The High Line
Since 2011, Alemani has been the Donald R. Mullen, Jr. Director & Chief Curator of High Line Art, the program of public art of the renowned urban park build on an elevated railroad in New York. She has commissioned and produced ambitious projects with some of today's most influential artists such as El Anatsui, John Baldessari, Phyllida Barlow, Carol Bove, Sheila Hicks, Rashid Johnson, Barbara Kruger, Faith Ringgold, Ed Ruscha, Nari Ward and Adrián Villar Rojas. She has also organized group exhibitions on and around the High Line featuring works by many young and emerging artists, including Firelei Báaez, Marguerite Humeau, Josh Kline, Duane Linklater, Jon Rafman, Max Hooper Schneider, Sable Elyse Smith, Rayyane Tabet, Kaari Upson, Andra Ursuta, and others. Alemani also launched the High Line Plinth, a new program of monumental works inaugurated in June 2019 with Brick House, a sculpture by the artist Simone Leigh. She also launched an ongoing performance series that has presented works by Alexandra Bachzetsis, Kevin Beasley, Simone Forti, Maria Hassabi, Alison Knowles, and Naama Tsabar. Additionally, she started a daily video series that distinguishes the High Line as the only park in New York City with a regular multimedia program available for free every day of the year, as all art programs on the High Line are.
She has commissioned and curated eight seasons of art on the High Line. Here is a selection of projects.
